Welcome to Red Class!

Hello and welcome to Reception!

I do hope you have had a lovely summer and are ready to begin a new chapter. My name is Mrs Williams and I am the class teacher. The Learning Support Assistants are Mrs Street and Miss Borg. It is going to be a fun-filled, productive and exciting year and we hope to provide your child with many opportunities to enrich their learning. Our first topic for the year is ‘Where am I’. We will be looking at maps of our local area, taking walks through the community and playing with all our new friends. Please find attached our topic grid for Block 1 topic. 

Reading

Over the coming weeks, your child will take home their first Reception reading book and reading record. We ask that the children read every day at home and that a short comment is written in the reading record and signed. This comment lets us know how the children read at home.

WOW moments

We want you to feel as involved as possible in your child’s education. Unfortunately as teachers we do not get to see or experience those special WOW moments when the children are at home. We would like to share these moments with you if and when possible, therefore we have provided you with some proud leaves. These are for you to write down short comments of something special your child has done at home; from writing their name for the first time to explaining something they have seen that has interested them and you. It could be absolutely anything and the more the better!

PE

The children will have PE on Tuesdays. PE kits stay at school on their own peg. As always, long hair must be tied up and all jewellery removed.

Water bottles

Each child will have been given a water bottle. We will send it home every day for it to be refilled ready for the following day.
