Welcome to Red Class!
Dear Parent and Carers,
Happy New Year! We hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas break and are feeling excited for the spring term’. We have a fun packed few weeks planned to keep your children inspired, curious and eager to learn.
Your child will be encouraged to explore the world around them through play, discovery, and meaningful experiences. Our classroom and outside learning garden are designed to be nurturing and stimulating environments where every child feels safe, valued and inspired to learn.
Block two- Who am I? During block two we will be finding out about the past. We will be investigating vehicles and toys from the past and how they have changed over time. Specially selected books will inspire our ideas and will encourage our learning and development. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be focusing on dinosaurs and old and new toys. We will be celebrating different festivals and traditions such as Chinese New Year, Shrove Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, Mothering Sunday, Easter and finishing off the term with a BANG for science week! Phew, what a busy time we will have! We continue to establish routines and with your support we will help your child develop independence, confidence, and a love for learning. We’ll keep you updated with regular newsletters, photos on tapestry, and opportunities to come and see what we’ve been up to.
Reading
We ask that the children read every day at home and that a short comment is written in the reading record and signed. This comment lets us know how the children read at home. We will do our best to change your child’s book on a Friday.
WOW moments
We want you to feel as involved as possible in your child’s education. Unfortunately, as teachers we do not get to see or experience those special WOW moments when the children are at home. We would like to share these moments with you if and when possible, therefore we have provided you with some proud leaves. These are for you to write down short comments of something special your child has done at home; from writing their name for the first time to explaining something they have seen that has interested them and you. It could be absolutely anything and the more the better! Please find more leaves on the tree display by the red door, please collect them during drop off or pick up.
PE
The children will have PE on Monday and Thursday. PE kits stay at school on their own peg. As always, long hair must be tied up and all jewellery removed.
Outdoor learning
We will endeavour to go outside in all-weather so please provide your child with a warm water proof coat and their own wellies to keep in school every day so that they can wear them in the learning garden and at lunch time etc.
If you ever have any questions, concerns, or simply want to chat about your child’s progress, please speak to me at the end of the day or contact the office.
Here’s to a great spring term together!
Warm regards,
Mrs Taylor, Mrs Fisher and Mrs T
