Welcome to Summer Term! I am he class teacher, Miss Payne, whilst our Learning Support Assistants are Mrs Fisher and Mrs Neilson. We have 22 children in our class. This term our topic is 'What am I?'. We will be exploring plants, mini beasts and seasons. 

In English we will be continuing with the Drawing Club. Each week we encourage the children to change characters, props and settings in the stories we read. The children are able to then use their imagination and exiting ideas whilst writing about something they have created. Some of the texts we will be covering are : Jasper's Beanstalk, The Enormous Turnip, Superworm, Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell, The Hungry Caterpillar, Captain Pugwash and Tiddler. We will be continuing to work on writing sentences using a capital letter, finger spaces, full stops and sounding out words to spell them. 

In Maths we are continuing to work with numbers. We will be recapping numbers 1-10 whilst becoming familiar in recognising and representing numbers 11-20. We will also be looking at more complex patterns, adding two numbers and subtracting one number from another. 

As our topic is ‘What am I?’, we are learning about plants and how to care for them. We will be talking about the different parts of plants too. We are exploring mini beasts, their habitats and where we may find them. We are also going to be exploring sea animals, creatures and the beach. We will be walking to the park and having our own ‘summer day’. We will be exploring our local community by walking to get chips from the shop. 

We also want to know how we can look after ourselves. Through PE and PSHE, we are going to be learning about how we can move our body, thinking about what is healthy to put into it and focusing on how to keep our mind healthy too. 

Our PE day will be Thursday. Please make sure all clothes are named and earrings are out.
