This term our topic is Heroes and Villains.
We have lots of interesting things to learn about and investigate this half term. Firstly we will be getting to know each other. I will be your teacher and Mrs. Carlin and Mrs. Arzynska will be working with me and you on all our exciting projects.
Lots of superheroes in books and stories can fly. We are investigating materials that would make a great cape. Which materials would be waterproof?
There are lots of real superheroes to find out about too.
In history we will be finding out about how people first tried to fly like birds. We will be investigating aeroplanes and then trying to make our own flying models. Captain Scott explored the Antarctic and we will be finding out how and why he travelled to the end of the Earth.
In R.E. and geography we will be exploring special places. Think about which places are special to you. In art we will be making 3D models in clay and other materials. Our focus is also painting and drawing. Do you like the way Quentin Blake draws? See if you can find some of his illustrations in a book.
Maths is going to be fun with lots of challenges and puzzles. We will need our maths skills to help measure and make our aeroplanes and for other projects.
To do your best at school and to have the most fun you need to remember to bring in your P.E. kit. Every day you will need a coat in case it rains and we want to investigate or play outside.
Spiderman is our writing hero this term and he is keen to have a sleep over at your house. He can then fill in his diary with you so that your friends know what adventures that you have had.
Look out for our reading challenge and see how many superhero certificates that you can collect. Please bring your book bag to school every day!
We look forward to meeting you all again soon.
