Blue class have had an amazing trip to Firstsite art gallery in Colchester.
We worked in the studios making clay pots with an artist called Clare. This was part of our science work on changing materials.
We looked at the statue of Millicent Fawcett and thought about how votes for everyone is so important. At King’s Ford Infants we have proper elections for our School Council and our Eco Warrior Committee.
In Forest Schools we have all made our Forest School name badges. We chose names, sawed and drilled to make our wooden badges which we wear every week.
Lots of children are busy collecting our new set of mini certificates when they have read at home.
We are now busy making marble runs in design technology. We have planted bulbs as part of our outdoor science learning. Thses should make good Christmas presents!
Welcome to Blue Class. Our teacher is Mrs. Canham and out teaching assistant is Mrs. Carlin.
This term the whole school topic is ‘Let’s Go to the Movies’ and we will be learning about materials, explorers, adventures and South America. We will also watch scenes from the film ‘Up’ to help with our imagination.
Forest Schools sessions have already started on Thursday afternoons. We explore and learn using the outdoor environment. Children will need to bring suitable clothing and footwear in a separate bag. We will be getting very messy so don’t wear anything too special!
Please see the topic grid for this term which goes into more detail regarding some of the activities we will be taking part in as we lead up to Christmas.
A copy of the weekly homework letters will also be available here on the school website. A paper copy of the homework letter will be sent out on Fridays in pupils’ ‘Home – School Journals’. Please ensure homework has been completed and sign the letter. The journals should be returned to school for the following Friday.
When your child has read three times at home they can collect a reading certificate to stick in their reading record. They love collecting them and it is a good way to encourage them to read with you or by themselves.
We have P.E. on Monday and Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure that your child’s P.E. bag is in school. It is so important to name clothes and shoes to ensure that they don’t get lost. Remember to take out earrings in advance too.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs. Canham or another member of the year two team.
