Application for leave of absence during term time

Taking you child out of school during term time will be detrimental to your child's education.

Regulation 7 of the Pupil Registration states that leave of absence can only be granted by the head teacher.

There is no entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time; however, you may apply to the school at least two weeks in advance for leave if you believe there are exceptional circumstances.  The application must be made by the parent whom the child normally resides.

• The school attendance target is 96%+
• Attendance between 91-95% is considered cause for concern
• Attendance below 91 % is unacceptable and recorded as persistent absenteeism

Anyone taking their child out of school for unauthorised leave may be referred to the Missing Education and Child Employment Service who have the power to issue a penalty notice for £120 (or £60 if paid within 21 days) to each parent for child taken out of school.
