Listening to Children and Young People

We work with all children to discuss their learning and individual needs.  We include them in conversations about their progress, welfare and achievements.  We aim to include children with additional needs in all areas of school life and listen to their views.  We want all of our children to feel confident and to have high expectations of themselves so that they can achieve their full potential.

Children can talk to a preferred adult in school. We invite them to make a contribution to their annual review (if they have an EHCP) e.g. through photos or a power point. We encourage children to engage with their learning by responding to teacher’s feedback, marking and their individual targets. We hear about children’s views through the school council.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (Listening to children and young people with SEND)

Q. What should I do if my child says that they do not want to come to school?

A. Talk to your child about any worries or concerns they may have. The first point of contact is the Class Teacher, who can address any concerns your child has shared or use their relationship with your child to encourage them in to the class. The Class Teacher will seek appropriate support if the issues are wider.
