Purple Class Information - Summer term 2017
Hello everyone! We are Purple class and we are in year 2. We have 27 pupils currently and our teacher is Mr Chase and our LSA is Mrs Andrew.
This term the whole school topic is ‘Growing Places’ and we will be learning about plants, exotic animals, South America and adventure stories.
We are hoping to visit Fingringhoe Nature Reserve as part of our science focus on plants and minibeasts and we will also be going to the beach at Frinton-on-Sea on Wednesday 19th July as part of our geography activities about the coastal environment.
Please see the topic grid for this term which goes into more detail regarding some of the activities we will be taking part in as we lead up to the end of the school year.
The year 2 leavers’ assembly is on Thursday 13th July at 2.00pm and everyone is welcome to attend as we celebrate the children’s achievements at King’s Ford Infant School and Nursery. We look forward to showing you what we have been learning about this term!
Our SATs tests will begin on Monday 8th May. This will involve two maths papers (reasoning and arithmetic) and two reading comprehension papers. We will also continue with our independent writing tasks (a ‘Cold Write’ and a ‘Big Write’) during this period. Please help your child do their best by helping them have a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast. We want everyone to be on top form!
Please remember that weekly swimming lessons start on Wednesday 26th April. Pupils will need a swimming costume/trunks (no baggy shorts), a towel, a swimming cap, goggles and a named bag. There are ten swimming lessons in total.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Chase or another member of staff.
